In the summer of 1978 we started a lawn service run
as a sole proprietor called Leftys Lawn Service.
We mowed mostly residential lawns in the Bellevue, NE
area and Offutt AFB. After a large storm we were asked
to clean up trees. This became a steady request so we went by
Leftys Lawn and Tree Service starting in the summer of 1979.
We also got a Class II Arborist license from the City of Omaha
in 1979 and have kept it current.
In 1980 we phased ut the lawns and went solely with the tree work.
We went by Leftys Tree Service til 1989. We were a full fledged
tree service doing removals, pruning, cabling, cavity work, some
planting and landscaping and sold firewood. We did residential,
commercial, and government work in Nebraska and Denver, CO until 1989.
We cut our business back about 75% and Lefty went to Missouri Auction
School and became a licensed Auctioneer. We went by Leftys Tree Service
and Leftys Auction Service still run as a sole-proprietor. We did all
kinds of actions such as estates, some livestock, farm sales, antiques,
coins, guns, etc.
From 1990 thru 1994 we did lots of liquidation auctions
in most of the continental United States for Tap Enterprises
besides our own auctions and working with Crandall Auctions in the
Omaha Metro area until 2002. We did several announcing jobs during
this time like calcuttas, rodeos, and livestock dog trials. We did
the Nebraska State Fair Stockdog Trials for 11 years. We have done
many Stockdog trials in Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, and Wyoming.
In 1995 we combined everything and went by O Mill Iron Enterprises run as a sole-proprietor.
We have announced the National Cattledog Finals in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.
We did the National Sheepdog Finals in 2008 in Sturgis, SD. We mix music,
comedy, and facts to keep things interesting.
In November 2008 we incorporated as O Mill Iron, LLC of which we do business today.
In the fall of 2008 we became the Authorized Sunheat Dealer for the Omaha Metro area.
All of the above were run from this same address since 1980.
We have expanded our scope to now include Dutch Oven Cooking. We have cooked
for wagon trains in Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota, logging more
than 1150 miles of the Morman Trail and Cheyenne to Deadwood Stagecoach route.
We also cook for family reunions, businesses, hunting groups, and weddings.
We are working on our own Dutch Oven cookbook at this time. We also get
involved in re-enactments, cookoffs, and do speaking to youth groups like
4H, Scouts, and schools. We do some auctions with others along with our
announcing jobs. We still handle firewood and service the Sunheat heaters we sold,
but are no longer a Sunheat Dealer since January 2011. Bunny has retired and is excited
about doing some sewing now that she has more time. I guess we are hobbyists now??..
